THE JEFFERSON REVIEW
ONE TOWN---ONE FUTURE
FROM THE OFFICE OF MAYOR RUSSELL W. FELTER
It has seemed like winter was going to stay around forever. Hopefully when you read this spring and the warmer weather will finally have arrived. It has been months since superstorm Sandy and I know lots of residents are still cleaning up and making repairs to their property. Town employees and volunteers did a great job in helping get through the storm and its aftermath. If you have any questions about repairs please reach out so we can direct you in the right direction so all repairs are done correctly and safely.
We encourage all our residents to enroll in Jefferson Township's Honeywell Instant Alert system to receive emergency notifications regarding road closures, power outages, services available during disasters, etc. This proved invaluable during Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
Residents can choose what type of notification they would like to receive, including email, text message, voice message or landland line notification. We encourage residents to select the text message notification at a minimum.
Residents can enroll by logging into the Township web site at www.jeffersontownship.net then click on Honeywell Instant Alert, you will also be able to sign up for Recreation Department email notifications for Township sponsored events and Water/Sewer Utility notifications.
This service is no charge to Jefferson Township residents. For residents unable to access a computer to enroll, please call Town Hall at (973) 697-1500, and you will be put in touch with the Township's Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) to assist you with enrollment. You must use a Jefferson Township address when registering.
Our prayers and thoughts are with the members of our Armed Forces and their families. Let us not forget our troops who continue daily to courageously serve to protect our country. We wish to recognize, support and thank you and we pray for a healthy and safe return. We are so very proud of you all. If you know someone who has or is serving in Iraq, please call Jack Kelly at 973-697-5957 to have their name included on our plaque which proudly hangs in the entrance hall of the Municipal Building Complex.
